Turning our Streets Teal with the
Teal Pumpkin Project
Silent Strength Awareness is proud to launch Turning Our Streets Teal, our local Teal Pumpkin Project initiative.
This year, 43 reusable teal pumpkins were prepared with non-food treats and distributed to homes on Moss Springs Road and Rutledge Hill Road in Columbia, South Carolina.
In 2025, only one home in our ZIP code was registered on the official Teal Pumpkin Project website. This year, Silent Strength Awareness is working to change that by bringing awareness directly into our neighborhoods and helping more households participate in inclusive Halloween celebrations.
What began as an awareness initiative is becoming meaningful community action—one teal pumpkin, one household, and one child at a time.

What is the Teal Pumpkin Project?
By displaying a teal pumpkin, participating families let trick-or-treaters know that their home offers a safe, non-food treat option, helping make Halloween more inclusive for children with food allergies, diabetes, celiac disease, sensory needs, and other medical conditions.
The Teal Pumpkin Project encourages households to offer non-food items alongside traditional candy, making trick-or-treating more inclusive for every child.
How Can I Participate?
Participating is simple and can make a meaningful difference for children and families in your community.

Display a teal pumpkin to let families know your home offers a non-food treat option.

Offer non-food items such as stickers, glow sticks, small toys, bubbles, or pencils alongside traditional candy.

Register your home on the official Teal Pumpkin Project map so families can find participating locations.
